The challenging scheme – that has already received recognition from the Institution of Civil Engineers in Yorkshire and Humber and been shortlisted for two British Construction Industry Awards – revamped the existing structure on site, reusing many of the existing structures to achieve a 60% reduction in carbon when compared to the carbon baseline.
Craig Fisher, JBA Bentley Contracts Manager, said, "The project demonstrates JBA Bentley’s ability to respond to the Environment Agency’s requirements for carbon reduction, developing a solution that allows for the sustainable reuse of many of the existing assets on site.
"There has been great collaboration between all the different organisations and engineering disciplines involved, working together to overcome challenges and provide the local community with much improved flood protection.”
